The Maritime Records and Research Centre holds a collection of 1,326 maritime related documents. These documents have been categorised into 14 different categories. These categories, and the number of items held for each category, are:

Any of the above items held by the Maritime Records and Research Centre can be viewed by making an appointment with the volunteers at the Centre.
The Maritime Records and Research Centre is located at Wharf 7, 58 Pirrama Road, Pyrmont, is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays except for public holidays, and may be visited by prior appointment.

The Centre staff have prepared some of the documents as a sample of the documents held by the Centre. Digital images can be viewed for the following persons and ship:
GAY, William – Indenture certificate, Masters and Pilotage certificates.
KOONDOOLOO – Certificates relating to the delivery voyage of this Sydney ferry built in Scotland in 1922 and which made the voyage to Sydney under it’s own power in 1923.
MURRAY, William John – Certificate of Commendation, Certificate of Service in Royal Navy.
PHILLIPS, Herbert Iorwerth – Apprentice Indenture certificate, Masters and other certificates.
SNOOR, Rasmus Poulsen – Certificate of Competency as Master, Pilotage and other certificates plus a photograph of Captain Snoor.
